Greenland is not Green, Iceland is not Ice
After Vikings, in 8th century discovered a beautiful island, covered by green, trees and forests they didn't want other discoverers to come and settle there.
That's why they called this really green island ICELAND, the land of ICE.
That's why when they discovered an island covered by ICE only, they gave it a beautiful name.
They called it GREENLAND in the hope that the pleasant name would attract settlers.
That's why Greenland, which seemed to be green, actually is covered by ice.

Why the color of sea near cost is green?
As you know the color of the sea is blue.
And near the coast there is a little distance between the bottom and surface of the water.
That's why the sunshine reflects very easily from the surface.
And the Color of the sunshine is Yellow.
So near the coast, the color of the sunshine mixes into the color of sea.
Yellow + Blue = Green
