How thistle became a symbol of Scotland.
After landing on the shores of Scotland, the Danes were subjected to fire, looting and
killing the local population. Once, during a fog, they decided
to attack the Scottish army. But one of the Danes came to Thistle barefoot
and howled with pain. The Scots, hearing a scream, woke up and drove
Danes back, who have since then dared not to attack. Subsequently, the thistle became the symbol of Scotland.

Washing of Lions in the Tower
In 1860 the London aristocracy sent invitations to "the annual ceremony of washing the white lions", which will be held in the Tower at 11 o'clock in the morning. It's quite a lot of people festively dressed, but completely forgotten about one particular item. They forgot that it was April 1...Fool's day

Permited vs Prohibited (USA vs USSR)
In the "Notebooks" Sergei Dovlatov formulated the distinction between the USSR and
U.S. with a well-known aphorism of the relationship between the permitted and
prohibited. this aphorism sounds for the USSR and as for the U.S. like: All that is not prohibited is permitted(USA) and All that is not permitted is prohibited(USSR)

During 76 years, astrologists have been hiding from us that Pluto is not a planet
1915 – Pluto is photographed for the first time but is not recognized as a planet.
Years after, in 1930 Clyde W. Tombaugh, considered Pluto as the ninth Planet of the Solar System. At that time he didn't know that actually it is not.
In 1970 after discovering the minor planet 2060 Chiron, scientists considered that maybe Pluto is not a planet.
Why didn't they say anything? Just because, Astrologists asked scientists to keep silence. For years they were creating their astrological calendars, where they described how birth under different planets is possible to change a human's life. They knew that people whom they cheated for such a long time, would protest, and will never believe them any more.
This lasted till 2006, when the International Astronomical Union (IAU)defined the term "planet" for the first time. and Pluto was reclassified like a "dwarf planet"
Thus the Oxford dictionary got a new word "plutoed", which means "to demote or devalue someone or something"

Happy Pi day! 3.14
Pi represents the relationship between a circle’s diameter (its width) and its circumference (the distance around the circle).
Pi Day and Pi Approximation Day are two holidays held to celebrate the mathematical constant π (pi) (in the mm.dd date notation: 3.14); since 3, 1 and 4 are the first three digits of π. March 14 is also the birthday of Albert Einstein and the two events are sometimes celebrated together.
